How to take care of your skin in winter

Is there a way to take good care of the skin even without using any expensive products or methods just like you do for your body? Well, that’s right! We are all aware that it is not easy to take care of our bodies and organs under harsh environmental conditions like cold weather, snowfall, etc. But we have to say that winter is quite different from other seasons as we don’t get enough natural sunlight. So we should adopt some ways of taking care of our skin even though we don’t get sufficient amount of daily exposure to sunlight.

Here are a few tips for taking better care of our bodies and skin in winter.

1) Cleanse With Sunscreen And Toner

You must be thinking how can I cleanse my face and neck properly when my body gets dry? And the answer to that query is “it doesn’t matter as long as you are wearing sunscreen or toner on that. I know this may sound contradictory but it is important to do so. It will help to remove dead skin cells and improve the overall appearance of your skin. If you don't want to wear those things it's fine but please make sure that they are very protective and can protect your body from harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. Always try and follow these two steps before going outside in winter.

2) Apply Moisturiser After Washing Your Face

I am also a big fan of hydrating masks because not only do they keep me hydrated but also nourish the skin. When we take it seriously enough to wash our face with a suitable cleanser, we start feeling relief. Make sure you apply moisturizer after washing your face, especially if you wash your face every night. Dryness will lead to clogged pores and inflammation of the skin which leads to breakouts and pimples. Applying a thick layer of moisture to your skin gives it protection against UV-A and UV-B radiation. Therefore, I always suggest you use gel-based moisturizers in winter. You can add some lip balm too. They are a great addition to moisturize your lips in winter. I also use hyaluronic acid and honey as essential oils for glowing skin. This combination is extremely soothing and hydrating.

3) Avoid Anything That Might Trigger Pores & Scars

No matter what your skin may be like it is bound to show some damage, be it acne scars, redness, etc. So it is necessary to avoid anything that might cause a breakout or pimple growth or scarring. Also, stay away from applying too much pressure to the skin to excessive sweating. Do not run over it with your car. Keep your hands well-hydrated throughout the day. Try avoiding foods like onions, garlic, tomatoes, and spicy foods. These could act as allergens and trigger an allergic reaction. So stay away from them to avoid breakouts and pimples. The last thing I want to mention is self-tanning which can also lead to a breakdown of the skin. No one likes it. Give it a chance only if you are completely sure that you are not going to experience such consequences. Just go with your skin type and try to treat it naturally.

4) Protect Yourself From The Weather Conditions

If you are wondering about how to keep yourself protected from the environment then here are a few suggestions. The first step is to cover your head with a cap when you are outdoors. Use a scarf or sweater while sleeping as they will prevent any form of wind. Next, read more about protecting yourself from extreme heat. One simple tip is to put light-colored cotton sheets between you and your mattress. Sleeping on sheets with dark colors could irritate your feet which would lead to cracked heels and cracks. Another tip is by wearing a pair of shoes with extra padding inside your boots and heel. Doing so reduces pressure on the skin from underneath your feet. For colder weather, always take extra hot water before taking bath. It helps reduce the chances of dehydration resulting in a chapped appearance or skin rashes. Last but not least you should ensure that you don’t sleep with makeup or heavy makeup. Wear sunglasses and a hat with sun protection to prevent glare from the sun. These measures could save you trouble even from the sun.

So, these are some easy and effective precautions you can adopt to take care of your skin in winter while indoors or outdoors. Hope that this article was helpful to you. Thank you for reading.
